Membership

WSLHA promotes the highest professional standards and ethical practices and serves the individual and collective professional interests of the members of the association. WSLHA offers several different membership types to best meet the needs of each individual and professional. The mission of WSLHA is to act as the primary resource and advocate for its members and those they serve through legislation, continuing education, collaboration, professional endeavors, and publications.

A Federal Tax Law in 1993 designated that expenses for lobbying efforts are non-deductible.  As a result, a portion of the dues you paid for WSLHA membership is non-deductible.  In 2019, 32.5% is non-deductible.

Membership Categories

  • Member ($70) - must hold (1) a master’s degree with major emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology or speech, and hearing science, OR (2) a master’s degree and evidence of research, interest, and performance in the field of human communication.  Eligible for full participation in the organization.

  • Clinical Fellow Member ($40 initial year) - must hold (1) a master’s degree with major emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology or speech, and hearing science, and be engaged in a clinical fellowship employment situation. Eligible for full participation in the organization.

  • Associate Member ($50) - must hold (1) a Bachelor’s degree with major emphasis in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology or speech, and hearing science, OR (2) a Bachelor’s degree and evidence of research, interest, and performance in the field of human communication. May serve on committees, but may not vote or hold office.

  • SLPA/Paraprofessional Member ($45) - must hold current employment as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, Audiologist Assistant or Educational Instruction Assistant specializing in speech, language or hearing disorders. May serve on committees, but may not vote or hold office.

  • Student Members ($10) - must provide school of attendance upon registration. May serve on committees, but may not vote or hold office.

  • Life Member (no fee) - Any voting member who has attained the age of sixty-five at the time of application and has held membership for the fifteen consecutive years immediately prior to application - approval of a special application for this level of membership required. Please contact the WSLHA office for further information. 

*WSLHA membership is based on the calendar year, January to December. Renewal invoices will be sent December 1st for all members.
